In preparation...

I've already been here in Cambridge for two and half years. I've picked up an advanced degree, some cool labmates, a caffeine addiction, and a lot of experience dealing with a shitty apartment. In two and a half years I've learned a lot, and in mid-january I will have the chance to prove it in my Ph.D. Qualifier exams. Sounds scary, but it is basically three oral/written exams in Mechanical Engineering subjects of my choice and a research presentation. If you pass, you get to stay. If you fail, you will be kicked out. I've been loosely preparing for them for the past few months. Now its time to buckle down and study non-stop. I must master the subjects of Dynamics, Optics and Fluid Mechanics, as well as have a flawless research presentation. Its hard to tell when you master something, because there will always be people who appear to be better than you. To me, mastering a subject means to study until you dream about it, and then do the best you can. That's been my philosophy since third grade and its worked for me so far. "Just try..." and you will be fine.

Enough procrastination for me. Time to strap on the gloves and beat the hell out of those damn books! It's a real fight this time. It's taking a toll on my body and mind. My heart beats irregularly and my face reads exhaustion. My entire world revolves around this very moment.

"You better lose yourself in the music, the moment
You own it, you better never let it go
You only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow
This opportunity comes once in a lifetime"
